In the town of Jackson WY, skiing is the language and medium through which the community interacts for much of the year. By providing ski lessons for the full winter season, the Doug Coombs Foundation brings low-income kids and their families into that often exclusive circle to create a more diverse and balanced community.
The DCF had an impressive growth record for a young organization, but lacked a clear message and brand that captured the fun and sense of community that surrounds skiing. Orijin identified donor motivations and designed a totally new identity that focused on triggering the happy memories of skiing and the playful, innocent nature of the children whom the DCF serves. Bright colors, playful illustrations and a focus on the spaces in which community happens on the slopes all collaborate to tell the powerful DCF story. Connecting skiing with increasing community diversity materialized as an engaging and informative comic, “the Coombs Line” and a powerful and touching video.
Orijin delivered a powerful and comprehensive brand style guide, insightful year-long marketing strategy and plan, numerous print and digital messaging pieces and a website that is scalable as a tool for their communications, programming and donor relations.
In addition to messaging support, Orijin produced the first annual CoomsFest, a fundraiser and year-end celebration event that had a 3X return for the organization and shared their momentum with the broader community.
